How did you two meet?
Ryan and I met at work over 7 years ago at a book printers. From the minute we met - we got on like a house on fire. It really was love at first sight!
What about the proposal, how did it go?
At the time, I was working as police officer so had spent the last 4 days on early shifts which are pretty long days. I got home from the last shift, had a shower, washing my hair and getting ready to relax in my pjs… little did I know he was waiting for me to walk into our bedroom the whole time! He was there with candles lit down on one knee! I had no idea it was coming!
What was your wedding style/inspo?
We both knew was wanted a destination wedding but unfortunately covid had other plans for us. We had 3 cancelled wedding dates and had to wait 2 extra years before we could have our day. But boy was it worth it! We wanted all greenery and white flowers with lots of light and candles. We wanted to go heavy on decor and special moments/surprises during the day such as fireworks and live music.
Tell us about your dress!
I struggled so hard with my dress! I actually brought one ready for the destination wedding but ending up hating it. I thought I knew what I wanted - but I didn’t. If I hadn’t have found this amazing bridal shop - I don’t know what I would have done! The Enzoani Lesley wedding dress was lucky to find me. I fell in love with it as soon as I stepped into it in the dressing room. I really did just know it was the one for me!
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
The moment I could see Ryan stood at the end of the aisle and we locked eyes. It was like no one else was in the room. We had waited soo long to get married - I just couldn’t believe it was happening. We had some incredible fireworks as well which we kept as a surprise from our guests! That was truly special.
Any changes? (Things you wish you’d done or wish you hadn’t!)
I wouldn’t change a thing about the day. We really did pour our heart and soul into the wedding. We thought of everyone we invited and tried so hard to show them just how much we care about them and how important they are to us.
Any tips for brides to be?
I would always say that my number 1 tip is - to remember that it’s your day. You don’t need to impress or please others. It’s about you and your partner making that next step in your relationship which is huge! Weddings really do show you who are your true friends. People show their true colours so I’d always say if anything happens or you get a gut feeling about something - act on it.
