How did you two meet?
We met in June 2014 when my bestie, MOH and EK Bride Rachel took me to the local pub to watch an England World Cup game - she knew James would be there and thought we’d be a good match so we’d been set up basically and she was absolutely right 😊 from there we had our first date a couple of days later and I knew then we’d be inseparable as he had me in stitches and couldn’t stop thinking about James after!
What about the proposal, how did it go?
Our proposal was on the evening of Christmas Day in 2020, James had planned it so after all the festivities we got back to our house and in my Christmas stocking there was a little box left with a gorgeous ring in the bottom. The funny part is I really wanted to get engaged on Christmas Day so when it hadn’t happened that morning I was in a right mood so the fact he then proposed to me still after that makes him a miracle 😂
What was your wedding style/inspo?
Our wedding style was very rustic-y with a lot of traditional and historical elements. We loved the whole barn look but also the period home vibe and Hooton Pagnell Hall gave us the best of both worlds with that. We had lots of rustic elements, mauves, eucalyptus and a running theme of our little cat Leo who sadly couldn’t be at the actual day and was safely at home!
Tell us about your dress!
The dress! Well as soon as I tried on the Rebecca Ingram Lettie wedding dress I think you guys and everyone I’d brought with me knew it was the one. It was so flattering with the ruffles and had the perfect mauve underskirt and amount of sparkle! I’d also added a little inner patch with an ode to Jane Eyre one of my favourite books just to personalise everything ☺️ the whole process was just so incredible you guys helped me identify what I wanted as frankly I didn’t know and it can seem pretty overwhelming walking into a shop of 100’s of dresses but you are so sweet and kind, you were so helpful and helped me pick the perfect dress and I felt so wonderful on the day, James loved it and felt it was very me!
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
Seeing James as I walked down the aisle, there’s a photo of me grinning like a Cheshire Cat, gone were the candid little smiles I thought I’d have in the photos haha! But also just seeing everyone we love so dearly in one place it really makes your heart burst with love to know everyone is there to wish you and your husband well on such a special day, nothing compares!
Any tips for brides to be? Any changes? (Things you wish you’d done or wish you hadn’t!)
Not sweat so much about the small stuff! I worried so much about little things like decor pieces which I’m sure people didn’t actually pay much close attention to which detracted from the enjoyment of being engaged and planning, make sure you focus on you and your husband/wife to be it’s all about you at the end of the day!!
