KELLY AND DEAN: Real Elizabeth Kate bride wears Rebecca Ingram Priscilla wedding dress

Updated: Oct 4, 2023

How did you two meet?

We actually met at a train station! My friend’s boyfriend was picking me and her up and he tagged along (later found out the friend’s boyfriend had told him to come too as he thought we’d get along well!) and we all ended up on a night out the following night. I was going to India for a month literally the next week and thought he’d lose interest but we kept in touch the entire time and had our first date the day after I got back!

What about the proposal, how did it go?

He proposed on my Birthday! We went day drinking and to our favourite restaurant for food and he asked me halfway through the meal!

What was your wedding style/inspo?

Relaxed, rustic and romantic! I had a vision of lots of candles and smaller floral arrangements instead of large displays. We managed to achieve this by saving lots of alcohol bottles to use as candle holders and jam jars for the flowers. It looked beautiful!

Tell us about your dress!

I had looked online at the dresses Elizabeth Kate had to offer and immediately fell in love with two. I knew I wanted a sleeve of some kind and possibly a floaty dress but what I actually came away with was far more beautiful than I could have imagined. Kim and Holly listened to my ideas and showed me a variety of different styles before I settled on the Rebecca Ingram Priscilla wedding dress. It was absolutely beautiful but didn’t have sleeves. Luckily for me, I was able to have some custom sleeves made with lace added to match the dress. It was absolutely stunning and I have had so many complements about it.

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

The whole day was an absolute dream but I really enjoyed our wedding breakfast. It was so relaxed and intimate and it was lovely to sit back with my husband and see our closest family and friends chatting and laughing. It also felt very special to spend our wedding day with our two children who were only 8 months old and 3. They won’t remember our special day but we will and we will have the photos to look back on forever.

Any changes? (Things you wish you’d done or wish you hadn’t!)

I really wouldn’t change anything about the day! It was amazing.

Any tips for brides to be?

  • Just as you’re going for your dress fittings close to the date, make sure your partner is regularly trying on their suit (if bought in advance). Dean had to re-order his suit 3 days before the wedding in the size up as it was a bit too snug- I’m so glad I forced him to try it on again and even happier that it was still in stock!

  • When it’s all getting a little bit overwhelming, just remember why you are getting married! The day will be amazing no matter what and it will all fall in to place.
